Testing and Fees

As part of the commitment to equity in Somers, the district will not charge students for IB (or AP) assessments. This program and these classes are at no cost to students.

Students enrolled in IB (and AP) courses at SHS are expected to take the culminating IB exams. There is no way to reschedule an IB exam and no late testing date. IB has created a contingency plan for severe illness or other genuine emergency. However, family plans, graduations, sporting competitions, and other non-emergency events do not qualify for this contingency. Students who do not take their IB exams for a non-qualifying emergency reason will be expected to reimburse the district for testing fees ($125 per course in May 2026). In addition, students who do not complete and submit their Internal Assessment exam components will not be eligible for sitting for their May exams, and will therefore be expected to reimburse the district for testing fees for that course.
